  K5 Kinetico Water System - Stay away- Very Very expensive to maintain! I was NOT told this was a metered system when the salesman from Crystal Clear Water at Costco sold it to me. Within six months the mac filter shut off my flow and I had to replace all the cartridges. I was shocked that I could not decide when to replace my filters. The system shuts down to a trickle unless you replace the mac filter. I replaced all the filters and with each cycle they seem to need replacement faster and faster. Eventually I purchased two mac filters and replaced the main filters only every second time. I get a service call then the second time I install the mac filter myself. This time I got the service call and the filter lasted a good six months. Then I replace the mac filter myself and after a month it cuts off the flow. It's driving me nuts... the mac filter is costing me a fortune!! I would never buy another metered system, it cuts the flow off at the most inopportune time. I wish I had never seen the salesman at Costco and to this day I blame the company for not telling me it is a metered system. Edit: And now the main membrane is defective and I have to pay a $129 service charge and possibly a new membrane. Funny they don't charge that when they come to replace $350 dollars worth of filters. After spending thousands of dollars I am tearing this piece of junk out and putting in a cheap Costco RO unit where I can decide when to replace my filters.
